EMDR therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based approach, used to treat trauma and a variety of other disorders. It involves addressing a series of traumatic events, or target memories. You focus briefly on the memories while also experiencing something called bilateral stimulation, traditionally done through eye movements. The goal of EMDR is to reduce the emotional sensitivity of past traumas, and to reshape negative beliefs that result from those experiences. It is different from traditional talk therapy, in that you do not have to go into detail about traumatic events.
